And Melissa has learned to live with it, but it breaks her heart that her seven-year-old son, William, has had to live with it too. Whilst most little boys wait with excitement for the big day, William finds it difficult to believe that Father Christmas even exists.

But then Daniel McCormick comes into their lives. And with his help, Melissa and William might just be able to find their festive spirit, and finally have a Christmas where all of their wishes come true …

I was expecting an adorable Christmas themed novel that would have me wishing for snow, Santa Claus and hot chocolates. Possibly a hallmark movie {you see where I’m going with this} Something where you can embrace the whole Christmas theme and have a happy ever after.

This wasn’t that – The whole Christmas theme became an after thought and diluted {here’s where I start to rant – if you don’t want spoilers look away} I mean what mother doesn’t get behind Christmas for their child??? Especially if the previous Christmases have been terrible. Why wouldn’t you go OTT with Christmas you know the full shabang… decorate the house with Christmas lights over kill on Christmas shopping {basically a normal Christmas}. Nope – instead Melissa decides to hide away with her son and not really take part all due to her past.

Now Daniel I adore! {If only I could get myself a Daniel} He’s an ex-tennis player who through injury had to make a tough decision, he’s embraced his new dream and won’t let anything stop him from achieving it. On a personal note I don’t believe Melissa deserves him. He’s way too good for her!

For me there seemed to be too much going on, a supermodel turned designer, a ex-tennis player turned coach, annoying ex, annoying ex’s new partner, unhappy son turned happy son?? Why did Melissa have to be a supermodel? Why did Kathryn Freeman feel the need to focus so much on Melissa’s beauty? It could have easily been a “desperate housewife” then a supermodel. Being a supermodel didn’t bring anything to her character she hadn’t been harden from the job. Its very thought provoking.

My final note will be on Daniel there you could see a true gentleman. A gentleman that can make you believe that even after a tough time not all men are the same {same goes for women} and when you least expect it you can truly find yourself a hidden gem.

Score: 2/5
